GENERAL INFORMATION
The screening is the first step which must be considered in a civil or industrial wastewater treatment plant. Its purpose is to intercept and remove suspended solid particles that can damage and / or slow down the depurative processes and plant equipment.
CONSTRUCTION FEATURES
The screening element consists of a cylinder made completely in stainless steel. The cylinder, realized with a trapezoidal wire wound on an helical support structure with clearances of 0.25 to 3.0 mm, depending on the solids to be separated.
The rotating drum screen is constructed entirely in stainless steel. The construction is really simple. The only moving parts are: a cylindrical grid, a gearbox and an engine.
The other main components are:
- a feeding tank that dampens the incoming flow and distributes it over the cylindrical grid
- a scraper blade for removing solids
- a set of seals between the cylinder and the structure
The liquid to be treated is introduced into the tank that slows the speed feeding and distributes the liquid against the rotating drum. The solids are retained on the outer surface of the drum and are removed by the scraper blade. The cleaned fluid then passes through the drum by gravity, from inside to outside, and falls into the collection tank below. The tank is open bottom and it is equipped with flanged connection.
During the crossing of the drum, the liquid cleans the slits eventually clogged.
The motorization is fitted with a gearmotor.
The rotating drum screen is manufactured with closed structure, for maximum safety. The structure is however completely viewable through appropriate outlets and flanges
SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE ROTATING DRUM SCREEN
MODEL 05-0352-628 (with drum Ø 628 mm).
In 05-0352-628 models, the rotating drum, on the gearmotor side, is supported by a self-aligning bearing while, on the other side, by two supports placed at 90° arranged in order to leave one side of the drum completely accessible for the insertion of the cleaning devices without the construction of hollow shafts, resulting in embrittlement of the same. The supports bearings are well protected, inaccessible to water and easily greasable and maintainable.

MODEL 05-0352-914 (with drum Ø 914 mm).
The 05-0352-914 models are equipped with a shaft inside the drum of large diameter, with flanged ends, which further increases the torsional and bending resistance of the structure of the drum, resulting in significantly extending the life of the drum filter compared to traditional solutions.
